She walked along side her father, from a distance I did not know, closeness in the shadows, near lovers, if they hadn't come any closer, I would not of known. There was never a passion within a delicious kiss, that was my first cue. Their feet grew louder as they walked the gravel road, that sounded their approach. I worked hard, head down, till the sounds alarmed my senses. Then I took notice, to which I wrote on first sentence. She was much younger, more nearer, nor less so my age. I caught her glimpse come quickly, as that quick, I looked away. Her father never looked over, that moment, yet later words he would say. I tried at slight, to gather more in. Caught again by her glance, I shy'd away. A third attempt, I soaked and gathered in. Their voices of a distant dialect. From, farthest east, now west they've come. Pony tailed, her long black silk hair. They stopped and looked past beyond me, out to the water way, this small man made lake, rest a center is a small island that sits in picturesque, accompanied this day in blue skies and blotched low clouds and the ambient temperature set all in comfort and lite sweater. They traveled further up the graveled road and so that was all of them to see.
I finished my work along the reservoir overflow of patching cracks to which the earth slowly takes back. I cleaned up and walked up out the concrete catch and atop the grassy knoll. Walked along the gravel road off center on the side, my truck was parked. Hidden amongst some tree's to avoid small white balls in flight. I placed my work wares into the bed and made my way back to gather the rest. Then from further up the small hill lip I see them come my way again. So much more road they could continue, so much so I should not, tonight write. Yet, they slowly came down, approached my way all just so timed. I cracked a slightest smile, nothing that was shown. I like little surprises, in that I would not of known. I came around to my truck and as I sit inside. They both turned to me on cue and her father spoke in questions. Nicest man, and made calm. I felt, his English was quite nice. I returned in answer, just looking at him and glimpsed to her at times. Then I felt my heart twitch ever the slightest. I saw her smile grow as I conversed with just her father. Brighter it became till we said our goodbye's. His hands clasped together and he bowed his head just slight. I smile in all sincerity as replied in words just in kind. Then my eyes set to hers and her smile blinded and I shy'd.
They walked up ahead near twenty yards or so. Then they stepped of the road side to which she kneeling down, touched nature and it's flowers and branches on the ground. Slowly as I passed, their heads still looking down. She looked up with that smile, that sunk deep within my eyes. Frozen, I was. Her eyes just so alive. I had to think so quickly, a dimple and a nod.
This all made for a special day. Unexpected in every way. This is what I love in life. beauty and nature, a mix.  Her father was a very proud man, so easy to tell.
